Southwark Council IT training

Skill UP London has been delivering IT courses to Southwark Council since August 2008. So far the council has commissioned seven courses, skilling up over 70 employees. The courses range from levels 1 & 2 to a bespoke advanced programme (for those that are more advanced than Level 2). The IT areas include Excel, Word and Outlook.

Southwark Council has been impressed with this particular programme because it doesn't disrupt their staff, being only one day per course and onsite. Also they like the fact that, once learners have completed, they get the opportunity to take a 90 min exam, achieving a recognised City & Guilds qualification. Learners taking the advanced course achieve a non accredited certificate from Southwark College.

The Council have decided to increase the frequency of the programme and are now in the process of creating a calendar of courses which will be promoted to all their Staff. This is directly as a result of the great feedback that the programme recieved.

Here's what the students say:

"I have learnt new skills which will be passed on to my colleagues to improve on various aspects of our jobs especially word processing"

"Excellent, will be of great help in doing my general work & in developing systems of work to help me & my staff"

"The trainer was very patient with all of us and always worked with a smile. Her knowledge was exceptional and she helped and assisted with a smile"

"Great Course!"

"The course was paced at the right level and personal attention given to students"

"Well done Eugene, you kept us all glued to the task at hand"

"At least I won't have to shy away from my grandchildren and have the confidence to face my younger children who are always asking."
