Level 3 Overview

This qualification is designed for supervisors and first line managers who have operational responsibility for a defined area of activity.  Based on the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership, this qualification is accredited at Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework in England, Wales and N Ireland, and is positioned at Level 6 on the Scottish Qualifications Framework. You may be eligible to receive funding towards this training via the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).

To achieve the Diploma in First Line Management, you will need to successfully complete the 5 core units and 3 optional units:

Core Units
Developing yourself in a management role
Making effective use of resources
Planning to meet customer needs
Managing information and communication
Developing people and planning work

Optional Units
Staffing  and selection
Contributing to quality management
Improving team performance
Developing communication
Managing in a small business environment

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification. However, candidates are likely either to hold a Certificate in Team Leading and/or have a few years experience at supervisory or first line management level. 
 
Assessment
Assessment is normally via work-based assignments. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own workplace context.

Level  5 Overview
This qualification is designed for middle managers and senior managers who are responsible for the strategic direction and/or growth of the business and want to develop their management skills.  Based on the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership, this courses is accredited at Level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework in England, Wales and N Ireland, and is positioned at Level 9 on the Scottish Qualifications Framework. You may be eligible to receive funding towards this training via the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).

However, candidates are likely either to hold a Level 3 Certificate in Management and/or have several years experience at supervisory or first line management level. Progression Routes
Upon successful completion of this course  a number of progression options become available:
Enhance your professional status by becoming a Member (MCMI) of the Institute
Start working towards Chartered Manager status
Progress onto the next level of Institute qualification, the Executive Diploma in Management
